"RADAR"
Radar was born in 1989 in Dvůr Králové. Although his beginnings were in running, for us, he is also a climber, ski mountaineer, member of the mountain rescue service, and mountain guide.
Before mountains and rocks captivated him, he was fully devoted to athletics; he is a multiple Czech champion in the 3000m steeplechase and also represented the country.
After moving to Vrchlabí, he fully committed to ski mountaineering, as evidenced by multiple medals from junior European championships. He is an eight-time winner of the "Noc tuleních pásů" race. He secured fourth place in a tandem with Polish ski mountaineer Andrzej Bargiel at the famous Pierra Menta race. He also holds medals from the Bokami of the Western Tatras, is a Czech champion, and a winner of the Czech Cup.
Radar’s approach to ski mountaineering can be summed up as: “Continuous descent of Chopicaky (Peru), Spantik (Pakistan), difficult descents in the Alps or the Tatras.”
It might seem that with such a busy schedule, he has no time for hobbies of the average person, but it wouldn’t be Radar if his list of interests didn’t show his versatility. Besides relaxing in the Krkonoše Mountains and planning more expeditions, it’s no surprise that he enjoys running and, of course, climbing. His favorite climbing area is around the sandstone rock cities. In addition to physical activities, he enjoys reading and is an amateur researcher of the literary works of Karel Hynek Mácha.
In September 2016, together with Jindřich Hudeček, he completed the first Czech winter ascent of Fitz Roy in Patagonia. Along with other Czech climbers, he also reached the eight-thousander Nanga Parbat. He shares a first ascent of the Peruvian mountain Huandoy and the seven-thousander Baruntse with Mára Holeček. Perhaps his only, yet most thrilling “failure,” was an attempt at a first ascent on the legendary Masherbrum, again with Mára Holeček.
Radar shares another close and adventurous bond with Zděnek "HÁČEK" Hák, a friend in any weather and ideally in extreme conditions. Together, they’ve conquered the peaks of Chumbu, Cholatse, and in June 2024, even Muchu Chhish.
Radar is a member of the Špindlerův Mlýn Mountain Rescue Service and a certified mountain guide within the UIAGM.
And what does he say about Direct Alpine: "I’m pleased to collaborate with DA because it’s a team of great people who work with commitment and enthusiasm. They create wonderful clothing right in the heart of the Jizera Mountains. After the Krkonoše, the Jizera Mountains are my favorite range, and it’s even more fulfilling for me to challenge the wildest peaks of the world in their gear."
