Pavel Žofka

Born on 14th March 1969 in Ostrava. While still a child he spent most of his free time and weekends with his parents at their cottage in their native Beskydy and in winter making regular ski trips to the Moravian and Slovak ski resorts. Then, during the summers it was hiking in the Czech lands and in Slovakia. Practically from the moment that he was born he was on skis and in the mountains.

At elementary school he became involved first with judo and then with basketball, to which he devoted himself until the age of 25, playing at the highest level. In addition to this, however, there always remained some time for skiing, mountains and climbing.

What brought him permanently back to the mountains was attending university and the great crowd whom he encountered during his studies. An additional contribution came from the exceptional Professors of Physical Education at the college, with whom he completed a variety of courses involving outdoor activities. Rock climbing, mountaineering, alpine skiing and free-ride became his drugs of choice.

In the nineties it was extreme downhill skiing in the Tatras, rapid rando transitions; in the summer rock ascents on Czech sandstone rocks and multi-pitch climbing in the Alps and Dolomites. In 2007 he enrolled in training with the International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations – also known as UIAGM. In 2010 he successfully completed the programme and received an International Licence as a UIAGM Mountain Guide. Professional Activities: Mountain Guide, Photographer and Graphic Designer at the Rock Art Studio.

Other hobbies: Cycling, running, tennis, other outdoor adrenaline sports.
